Betsy is going to survive!

Just for an update on my car situation....it looks like Betsy (the name my sister-in-law and I came up with for my car, lol) is going to be repaired instead of getting totaled out. I'll be honest and admit that I was kind of looking forward to getting a new car, but I'm fine with getting Betsy back. Seeing as I paid the car off the same day it got hit, I'm highly relieved that I still won't have a car payment going into law school. I guess I should be thankful that all of this wasn't a much worse situation...I mean, I could have been in the car when it was hit....either way, Betsy will be back home in about a week!

Not so happy St. Patrick's Day.....

Last Wednesday, I fell into the typical St. Patrick's Day mode along with the other 99% of the world. I made sure to wear my green to avoid getting pinched, but I did NOT pinch anybody not wearing green. It just makes me mad when people do that, lol. It was a typical Wednesday all the way down to going to mid-week service at church and watching George Lopez re-runs with the hubs until we both fell asleep. However, getting a knock at the door around 2:00 in the morning made this day quite different from the norm. Of course, Tony freaks out and wakes me up in a panic. We both walk to the front door and Tony yells like a maniac, "Who is it?" to which we hear, "Prattville Police Department."....not what I wanted to hear. As it turned out, someone decided to party a little too hard for St. Patrick's Day, then took a drive down our street.....and plowed into my car!! Check this out.....

To make matters worse, this person then continued driving down the street without as much as leaving a note to let me know that they had caused severe damage to my car. After talking for a few minutes about what needed to be done and signing the accident report, the police officers got into their cars and assured Tony and I that they would do everything they could to get this situation figured out. Of course, I never thought I would hear another word from them. Much to my surprise, ten minutes later, we got another knock on the door from the police department again...this time telling us that they had found the person who hit my car. I was floored! During the ten minute duration that they were looking for the culprit, I was sitting in my living room trying to figure out where we were going to get the $500 deductible that we would have to pay to get my car fixed and all the other details that go along with getting repairs done to a car. All the police gave us was an address, so I didn't have much to work with on figuring out who this person was, and they wouldn't tell me anything until the accident report had been completed. So, I got to work the next day and put on my Inspector Gadget suit, lol. With the help of a few other "inspectors" and the wonderful world of facebook, we had figured out who hit my car in about 30 minutes. After speaking with the girl who hit me, and getting assurance from her that she was going to make everything right and take care of all of this...including calling her insurance company right away, I began to feel much better about the whole situation...until 4:00 rolled around and I still had not heard back from her or her insurance company. So, I took the reigns, as I figured I would have to do all along, and called her insurance company. Turns out, she had yet to call them and file a claim. I had to give them all the information about the accident because they had not heard a word from her. After having to get a little rude with one of this company's representatives, I finally had confirmation that I would be receiving a rental car....but now it's looking like I won't know whether or not my car will be repaired or totaled until Thursday :( OOOOHHHH, and I must mention that on Wednesday, the same day this incident occurred, is the very day that I put a check in the mail to pay my car off....yes, you read correctly. I had just paid this car off and it got smashed! Irony?? Whatever it is, it sucks, lol. Needless to say, St. Patrick's Day was not so happy around the Mest house. Oh well, either my car will get fixed, or I'll get a new one....at least no one was hurt in the process.

Creative Overload

As I look back at my previous posts, it seems like all of them are about my crafty moments and making stuff for my house.....well, here's another one, lol. I went in a really cute boutique in downtown Prattvegas, and saw this lady painting ceiling tiles...random, I know. They were too cute! Needless to say, that prompted my imagination. After obtaining a few ceiling tiles, I went to work on a piece for our guest bathroom, which is painted purple with a silver faux finish. I think it turned out pretty good for my first try. I still have to go back and touch up the edges that are getting frayed, but other than that, I don't think it's a massacre, lol.

A Definite Two Thumbs Up!!

Last night, my mom and I finally watched The Blind Side, and I would like to go on the record for saying that it absolutely exceeded my expectations....I LOVED it!! I can only hope to be able to help someone the way the Tuohy family helped Michael Oher....what a testiment to how generous and loving people really can be. If you haven't seen it, I would definitely encourage you to rent it when it comes out next week. I have a new found respect for Sandra Bullock after hearing the real Leigh Anne Tuohy (the character Sandra plays) talk about how determined Sandra Bullock was about getting her character just right and portraying the great woman that Mrs. Tuohy really is. Sandra Bullock totally deserved every award she won for that movie...it rocks! Not that my opinion matters, but I definitely give it two...maybe even three thumbs up :)

Craftiness Continued....

So, I'm really into this whole DIY thing lately and for some reason, I feel the need to make anything I can instead of buying it. Last weekend, I decided we needed a new front door decoration, so off to Hobby Lobby I went. After searching through their wreaths and random decorations, all of which I wanted to buy...I decided that I just needed to make our new door decor myself. I'm just as obsessed with all things monogrammed as the average girl, so a big "M" for the front door seemed perfect. With Easter coming up and Spring being right around the corner, I painted us the cutest wooden "M" with big spring colored polka dots to hang from our front door.
