I'm very pleased to say that my last blog post was less than a month ago...no more bad blogger awards for me! Well, no bad blogger awards at least for this month :)
Unfortunately, I don't have any huge news to share with the world, but I guess no news is good news. I got my registration completed to take the MPRE in August. For those of you wondering what the heck the MPRE is, it's basically the ethics part of the bar exam, but we get to take it right after finishing our ethics class instead of with the rest of the bar exam. In theory, this should make retaining the information for the test easier since it should be fresh on my mind....NOT! The test is 30 days away, so I need to get on the ball and start re-learning this stuff. We'll see how that goes. I'll just go ahead and plan on several late nights, early mornings, and caffeine overdoses.
As for the non-school side of my life (you know, the remaining 5% that school doesn't take up), can I just go on the record and say that it seems like everybody, and I mean just about everybody is pregnant?!?! I can't get on facebook without seeing baby belly or ultrasound pictures...it's crazy! Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited about all the new little babies to cuddle with :) I've just never seen so many pregnant people! For me, this means lots and lots of baby showers....which I love! Last month, I helped host a shower for my friend Sara, and baby Maddox arrived two weeks ago. He's absolutely precious :) I'm helping with another shower for my friend Holly in a few weeks, and baby Ellyson will be here sometime in September. Maybe, just maybe, Tony and I will be joining the baby club in the next year or so.....guess we'll see :)

I'm Officially a Bad Blogger
After checking in on the blogs I read pretty regularly, I realized that I had not posted a single word in my blog since January....that's right, it's been 5 whole months. In the blog world, I'd say that qualifies me for the "Worst Blogger Ever" award :( Luckily, I'm not aware of that award actually existing, so I'll just pick up and move on where I left off!
I have another semester of law school under my belt! This semester was another tough one....hence the zero blog posts since January. We finished exams in mid-May, and it took nearly a month to get all of our grades back! Needless to say, myself and lots of my friends were nervous wrecks for what seemed like an eternity. I never thought I would get to say this relating to law school.....seriously, NEVER thought this would happen, but I made Dean's List this semester!!! I guess all those super late nights and dreadfully early mornings in the library actually paid off. Check that one off the bucket list :)
Now that my second year of law school is over, the harsh realities of being a third year law student are starting to set in. I'm working on getting my 3L practice card, which basically means I can go to court and do "real" lawyer stuff....well, as long as a supervising attorney is with me. Next, I'll be registering for the bar exam (insert sick feeling in the deepest depths of my stomach). I'm also doing my rigorous writing assignment next semester, and yes, apparently it's called the "rigorous" writing assignment for a reason. At this point, after surviving the most difficult 2 years of my entire educational life, I'm pretty sure I can handle all that....hopefully.
Outside of school, things are pretty much great! I still love my job :) I really do learn something new everyday. I'm getting a new car!! Hopefully we'll make the big purchase before school starts back, but if not, I'll definitely be cruising in a new set of wheels sometime in late August or early September. I'm trying my best to convince Tony that we need a new house, but for some reason, he's just not jumping on that bandwagon yet....maybe it has something to do with his wife still being a full-time student, lol.
That's pretty much an update on the high points of life right now. I won't even waste my time making a promise to blog more often because I don't like breaking promises, but I'm sure going to give it a shot :)

Half of Me is a Lawyer??
The half-way point.....it seemed so monumental at the instant moment I realized finals were really over, and I had survived. Now, it seems like the next year and a half is going to last forever. The good news is, I made it to this point. Finals are over, grades are posted, and I didn't fail any classes. Some grades were awesome, but one stupid class kept me from making dean's list. In order to avoid posting the world's longest complaint blog, I'll just leave that where it is and not cry over spilled milk.
My study partner and I did find a new "blue suite." Actually, the lovely library people just pushed the study rooms back a few feet and gave them numbers instead of colors. So, we now have a new home. All we need is a coffee table and a couch....OH, and a Keurig :) After this horrible semester, I can genuinely say I'm looking forward to a fresh start with new classes, new professors, and most importantly new highlighters!!
On the non-law school side of things, my husband and I, along with my parents took a Christmas vacation to the Smoky Mountains. We had such a great time, and I can't wait to go back! It was so nice just to relax on the porch of a log cabin and know that I didn't have an exam the next day or an outline to work on :) One down side, for those of you who have never stayed literally at the top of a mountain, the drive to and from that awesome cabin was quite scary. My mom seriously kept her eyes closed the entire time, haha!! I also discovered a hidden talent while on vacation....darts! Our cabin had an electronic dart board in the game room, and Tony thought he could beat me....wrong! I have no idea how, but I managed to beat everybody in the house at darts. So, all in all, if this lawyer thing doesn't work out, professional dart league, here I come!
School starts back next week, so starting Monday, it will be back to the books for another 4 months. Yay!! (Please sense the sarcasm in that "yay"). Oh well, it's like my husband keeps telling me, half of me is a lawyer. Now all I need is to get the other half of me to come along for the ride :)

Where's the Blue Suite?
Well folks, that time is officially upon us again.....finals prep time!! (please sense the legit sick feeling I just felt in my stomach when I typed those three dreaded words). It's mid-November which means finals are approximately 3 weeks away, and as usual, I am nowhere near where I said I was going to be by this time in the semester. I have outlines for all of my classes.....but they're not my own....thank goodness for Outline Depot and trusty 3L students :) My hand is already cramped up from writing out note cards, and my brain just hates me. However, one of my main concerns is where my trusty study group and I are going to relocate since someone decided it was a good idea to remodel the library and destroyed our trusty Blue Suite....what were they thinking?!?! I mean, we've got to find a new covert location. Otherwise, we may not be able to sneak in our caffeine drinks, which are technically not allowed in the library, and our never ending supply of M&Ms or whatever chocolate candy is available at that moment. This could be epic people :)
Oh well, I guess finals must go on, unfortunately. I have a feeling I won't be making many appearances in the blog world until around Christmas time when I emerge from my finals hibernation season....so, Happy Thanksgiving everybody :)

Blogging Fail.....
Well, it has officially been over a month since my last blog post. I would have to say that makes September a "fail" in the blogging world :( Whoever "they" are that say the second year of law school is so much easier are a bunch of liars!! Yes, there is much less pressure from the professors, and the readings are often much shorter. However, the professors this year seem to think we already know everything to be covered in that class. I never ever....ever....ever thought they were spoon-feeding us the material last year, but they really were. I do have one professor this semester that breaks things down into elements for us and makes our lives less painful, but the rest of them just leave it up to us to learn the majority of the material, and let's just say there is a reason I did not choose a career in education.....because I'm not good at teaching...especially teaching things to myself!! I have already ordered at least one supplement for four out of my five classes and am on the search for good outlines. Here's to another semester of sleepless nights in late November and early December, over-consumption of Dr. Pepper, and countless hours spent in whatever we can find to replace the "Blue Suite" :)
On the outside of law school side of things, I spent this past weekend in Gulf Shores with the Alpha Gams for their annual sisterhood retreat. We had a great time, and I really enjoyed getting to know some of the girls better. I had never been to Gulf Shores before this weekend, and I never knew how nice it was.....I definitely added it to the potential vacation spots list.
That's pretty much all that's been going on in September and now October....sad, I know. Gotta love the life of a law student :)

8.29
At this moment two years ago, I was getting ready for one of the most important moments of my life. Two years ago today, I married my best friend. The day was absolutely perfect. So many friends and family shared with us in our special day and made it even more memorable.
Most of the day is a big blur, as everybody assured me it would be, but the big moments are still just as clear in my mind as they were two years ago. I still remember the butterflies in my stomach as I got ready to see Tony for the first time and how nervous I was right before walking down the aisle in the middle of WAY more people than I expected :) I still remember Jeremy's shoe breaking in the middle of pictures, lol. I still remember my little brother referring to himself as the "little boy who carries the rings to the preacher" and I'll always remember how beautiful my Mom looked that day.
The past two years have been full of ups and downs, but I wouldn't change a single thing. Thank you Tony for loving me just the way I am and for always supporting me, no matter how crazy my plans may be :) I love you!

There's No Place Like Alpha Gam!
This past weekend was recruitment weekend for the AGD chapter I advise. It's always a super stressful weekend, but by the time bid night rolls around, all the hard work is totally worth it for those precious girls! My friend Nicole is the recruitment advisor, and she took on the daunting task of redoing pretty much every aspect of Alpha Gam's recruitment this year.....oh, and she may have also had a baby 13 days ago :) Everything turned out SO great! The girls did such an awesome job pulling everything together, and they're so excited about their new baby squirrels! I'm the new member advisor, so I get the privilege of working closely with the new members over the next few weeks as they work their way to initiation...here's to a great new member period!
OH! More great news....I figured out how to get pictures from my phone onto my blog, haha! Here are some snap shots from this weekend!
The door decorations that 2 of the girls worked so hard on....they did such an awesome job! (Their skit was obviously Wizard of Oz themed, lol.)

Year 2.....
Well, my summer is officially over, and my second year of law school starts tomorrow. I would be lying through my teeth if I said anything other than this, "I'm completely dreading going back to school. I don't want to do it. I wish I had another 2 months of summer." Don't get me wrong, I'm super excited about seeing everyone that I haven't seen since May, but I feel quite sure they feel the same way as I do about class. My motivation went on summer vacation too, and it's just not back yet. Oh well, nothing I can do about it now except get my reading assignments done and be ready tomorrow morning.
This semester, I'm taking 5 classes all on Tuesday and Thursday. So, if there is a bright side to this whole situation, I only have to go to class 2 days a week and actually have Fridays off this semester! The down side to that is I'll have TONS of reading to do on Mondays and Wednesdays. Here's to hoping I'll be able to use my time wisely and not get behind in my readings :) My survival partner (Effie) and I managed to get all 5 of our classes together this semester. I don't know how I'm going to react when the inevitable day comes where we don't have all of our classes together, lol. I sure hope what "they" all say is true about the first year being the hardest and the second year actually having some trace of fun involved....guess we'll find out soon!

Baby EJ is here!!!!
It's official....I'm an "aunt"!! YAY!!!! Baby Emmalynn was born this Tuesday at 3:15 p.m., weighing in at 7 pounds, 7 ounces, and 20inches long. She is seriously absolutely perfect! I may be slightly on the biased side, but I'm pretty sure I've never seen a baby more beautiful than her :) Her mommy was a total trooper through everything she had to go through to bring the little princess into the world, and she is just glowing every time I see her. I'm certain she will be the best mommy ever! I got a new phone, and unfortunately, I haven't figured out how to upload pictures from my phone to my blog, but as soon as I get that figured out, I'll be sure to post a picture of the world's most beautiful baby girl :)

It's July??
Needless to say, summer is flying by faster than ever. It feels like I just got finished with finals last week....and school starts back in a month. Where did my break go?? On the bright side of things, I absolutely LOVE my new job! I have learned so so so much in just over a month of working, and I seriously learn more and more everyday.
On the social side of things, baby Emmalynn's shower is this Saturday!! Saying I'm excited is a little bit of an understatement. Nicole is the first of my really close friends to have a baby...and I've obviously been referring to EJ as my "niece" (except for the times I joke about her being my own "vicarious" baby, lol)...she's the closest thing to a baby I'll be having for quite a while :) I'll be sure to post plenty of pictures from the shower....YAY!!!

Sweet Summertime
Summertime is officially in swing....complete with weddings, baby showers, engagements, and the whole nine yards. School is over for a while, and having my life back is GREAT!!! It's amazing how much time I have on my hands when I don't have endless cases to brief, memos/briefs to write, outlines to prepare, blah blah blah blah blah. I started my new job a few weeks ago, and it's going so great. I have already learned so much, and the two lawyers that I work with have really been great about giving me challenging work and letting me try new things. I'm actually going to trial with one of them this week, and I'm so nervous! It's not like I'm representing the client in front of the judge or anything like that...I'll be the girl with the lawyer who gives him his exhibits and documents when he needs them....so there's really no pressure on me, but I can't help but be nervous because this actually counts for something, lol.
A few weeks ago, I went with my law school right hand, aka Effie, to Fairhope for our friend Natalie's wedding. We had a great time just hanging out and keeping eachother awake on the 3 hour ride home :) I didn't get a picture of the bride, but she was absolutely stunning...such a classic beauty.
This past Saturday was one of baby Emmalynn's showers. We had a great time, and she got so many goodies. Something tells me this is going to be one spoiled baby, and I can't wait to meet her and start the spoiling process! The shower I'm helping host for her is in 4 weeks, and I'll be sure to post plenty of pictures of that one. I'm super excited about it. Her Mommy is such a great friend to me, and I feel so honored to get to help welcome this sweet baby into the world :)
I've also managed to be crafty a little bit too! Here are a few pictures of some door signs I've made this summer....I'm sure there will be more to come!

Goodbye 1L Life
Well people, it's over!!!! All 5 finals are complete and pending a few passing grades, I will no longer be a lowly 1L...YAY!!!!! This year has taught me so much about myself and about life in general. I have learned that if I push myself and work my hardest, I really can accomplish anything I set my mind to. I have learned that I am alot tougher than I thought and that my body can function on alot less sleep than I thought, haha! I have made some of the best friends in the world, and I'm dreading the fact that some of them may be transferring back home in the fall :(
I learned alot about other people this year too. I'm sure it's just part of growing up, but it seems like the older I get, the more I realize that there will always be those people around you that will do whatever it takes to get by, no matter how sketchy, unethical, or just plain wrong it is. It is those people who give lawyers a bad name, and I'm proud to say that none of those people are the "friends" I associate myself with. However, it doesn't take long to pick them out in my class, and I can only hope they'll realize that cheating your way to success isn't a very honorable thing....and soapbox over, lol.
Back to good stuff :) I'm sooooo excited that school is out for a while and that I can finally get some sleep!! I can't wait to sleep in on a Saturday morning and go on dates with my husband....bless his heart....he's been so supportive this year. I couldn't ask for anyone better. My next post will be full of the door signs I'm planning on starting tomorrow :) YAY!!

Burned Out....to the max
Survival of the fittest....until now, I never truly experienced anything that was that phrase personified. As of today, myself along with about 68 classmates, have taken 4 dreadful finals, written 9 essays, answered over 100 multiple choice questions, and consumed what should be an illegal amount of caffeine...and as of 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, it's all over. The fact that all this work is about to pay off and that I'm about to complete my first year of law school is pretty surreal...or maybe I'm just delusional at this point. Either way, it seems crazy. The past 9 months have flown by SO fast. It seems like last week, I was pulling into the Rennaissance parking lot to have my first day of orientation, and now I'm about to be done with what "they" say is the hardest part of law school. Well, "they" better be flippin' right!!! Oh well....guess I just needed something to distract me from the constant reality of studying my nights away....less than 12 hours until my last final starts...WOO HOO!!!!!!!!

Panic Season #2
Well, exams start tomorrow....I mean today (since it's after midnight)....insert rising blood pressure, racing heart beat, stomach in throat, and all those other fun things that just happened to me. I would be lying if I didn't say I'm actually more nervous this semester than I was last semester. That seems totally backwards to me and completely wrong, but it's the truth. I have no idea why I feel this way. My only justification is that I assume my professors just expect us to learn this stuff on our own and they're going to throw stuff at us that we've never seen and be expected to spit out a 10 page essay on it in 1 hour.....which is unfortunately somewhat true.
I have one more exam this semester than last semester, and this torture isn't going to be over until next Wednesday...that's right....exams last 10 days!!! I'm pretty sure the Constitution says something about cruel and unusual punishment....anybody else think a 10 day exam period qualifies as cruel and unusual???
Oh well....the reality is here, and I have no other option but to trust that I've studied hard and will at least get passing grades (even though I would love nothing more than to walk out with a 4.0....oh, wait, I live in America, not Perfect)...either way, I'll be saying bye bye to blog world for at least 10 days. Hope all of you whose summer has already begun are enjoying it. Please think of me as you are bathing in the sun or sleeping super late or any of that other fun stuff associated with summer break :)

Never Saw That Coming
As I said in my last post, somehow I managed to qualify for the 1L Moot Court Tournament at school. Thursday night, I had two rounds. I competed against a girl from section A and another classmate from my section. There were 16 people total competing on Thursday night, and the top 8 advanced to Saturdays octo-finals along with the top 8 from Friday night. After about 3 hours of arguing and waiting for results, they finally called all of us into the rotunda to announce the top 8. I figured this would be the moment where I realized that all of this stress was over, which would be a great thing, but that I had been eliminated, which would be kind of disappointing.....but NO....my name got called as one of the top 8 advancing to Saturday.....I was floored.
Then, Friday night rolls around and my best law school friend was scheduled to compete. She called me at about 9:00 and was sooooo excited....needless to say, she advanced to Saturday too. I was so proud of both of us!
Saturday morning came...and so did my nerves. I pulled up to the Alabama Supreme Court building and had more butterflies than I knew what to do with. Those 50,000 steps I had to walk up in order to get into the building didn't help either. I finally made it to the door past the HUGE columns and walked in to see 15 of my classmates all just as nervous and anxious as me. Then, they asked all of the competitors to come into the Supreme Court courtroom for pictures. I had never been in this courtroom before....it's massive. The ceiling is a million feet high....seriously, lol. It was the most intimidating room I had ever been into, but also the coolest at the same time. I LOVED it!!!
My first round of arguments was in the Criminal Appeals courtroom against the top competitor from Friday night. I was sure he would wipe the floor up with me since he was apparently the best from Friday night, and I was the 8th seed from Thursday night. We did our arguments, and they called us back into the room for critiques....which is basically a few minutes for the judges to tell both advocates how bad we suck, lol. The bracket board with the winners is posted downstairs...many many steps from where we were. So, we basically had to sit in that courtroom and hear all of these comments and have no clue which one of us won the round and would be moving on. So, I cheated and sent my friend a text message to see if I lost, lol. Somehow, I managed to convince the judges that they should pick me...crazy, right?? I had made it into the top 8 advocates out of nearly 150 people that started out doing oral arguments. Never ever ever did I think I would make it that far after my first round of oral arguments 2 weeks ago. Top 8?? Seriously?!?!
Then, I had to compete against a girl that I knew was extremely tough....because I went against her on Thursday night. I ended up losing that round to her...and she actually won the whole competition. So, I'm pretty proud of the fact that the only person I lost an argument to is the person who ended up being the top advocate in our 1L class...not bad if I do say so myself. I can honestly say that I never thought I would be typing up a post like this. I just never saw myself making it that far, but I am so excited that I decided to participate in the tournament. It was definitely an experience I'll never forget, and I CANNOT wait to get back in that courtroom....such an amazing experience! Well, Peter Calaway, it's been a wild ride, but unfortunately, our relationship has to end.....FINALLY!! (Peter Calaway was my "client" for this semester, lol)
Here is a picture of me and my best law school buddy before our first rounds :)
Some Good News
After the fiasco I like to call my appellate brief finally left my mind (not really, but it makes me feel better to say that it left my mind), I was able to focus on my oral arguments. I'm not sure if I've explained what oral arguments are before, but just in case I haven't....oral arguments are basically a time where you stand in front of judges and argue your case. Sounds easy, right? NOT!!! Typically, you get to say your name and who you represent before the judges start firing questions at you from outer space. You never know what these questions may be and you may or may not have any clue what the answer is. Luckily, we were able to have a practice round and get feedback from judges and our professors. I had my practice round the Friday before last, and it wasn't terrible....but don't get me wrong, it wasn't great by any means. Then, the next week, which was last week, I had my graded round. I had to go against one of my best friends in school, which was good and bad at the same time for obvious reasons. All in all, I survived. I managed to get some good feedback from my judge and my professor, but honestly, I was just glad that it was over.
I mentioned a few posts ago that the 1L Moot Court Tournament was this month. The way the participants for the tournament are picked is based on oral arguments. Each professor gets to pick their top 3 students and then fight for extra spots. Total, there are 32 students out of nearly 150 that qualify. I really wanted to at least qualify just so I could say that I was selected....but deep down, I did NOT want to has out the whole oral arugment thing again. Not to mention, during the tournament, you have to argue both your side and the opposite side that you basically get 2 days to prepare for. The email was sent out last night to the students selected to participate in the tournament.....and I got one!!! I was super excited to get invited to be in the tournament, but then the reality of the fact that oral arguments are not over started to set in....ugh!! We had a meeting about the tournament today, and let's just say, I'm more nervous now than I have been all semester!! I pretty much don't care if I get eliminated in the very first round. I'm just super honored to have even been selected.....I never thought I would actually get in!
I compete on Thursday night against a girl from Section A and then a guy from my section. I'm pretty intimidated by the whole situation, but it will be over before I know it, and I know it will be something I'm very glad I decided to do. Sooooo, we'll see how this all turns out :)

Did That Really Just Happen?!?!
My appellate brief, which accounts for 75% of my LRW grade was due tonight by 11:00 p.m. This is the paper that I have been working on the entire semester. Countless hours, Westlaw searches, Bluebook Rule checks, conferences with my professor, and a bunch of other stuff I don't care to mention has gone into this paper. Today, I stayed home from church to put the final touches on my paper...not to mention that I literally worked on my paper ALL day Saturday and did nothing else the entire day. I revised my argument sections until lunch and left home to head up to the library where there are fewer distractions. I edited, revised, double-checked, researched, changed, and fixed more things than I ever thought were possible.
10:00 p.m. hit and I realized it was time to stop worrying with the small stuff and get the brief turned in. Then, I realized that I still had not added page numbers to my table of contents and table of authorites. This seriously took every bit of 30 minutes to go page by page and figure out which cases were cited on what page and how many other times they were cited in my argument, but I did it. Then, I went to the printer to look at the hard copy of the fruits of my labor and realized that the page numbers were not there!! So, back to my computer I went where there is a nice little message that says "save could not be completed due to error"...gee, thanks for the explanation there, laptop. I click ok on the message and attempt to save my brief again only to realize that not only did the page numbers not get saved, but they weren't even on there!! By this time, I'm in utter panic mode. I scrambled to try and get some sort of page numbers on this thing to keep myself from losing all of the formatting points allocated to the brief, and at 10:55, I had to stop myself and just turn it in.
Then, true horror set it. My computer would not pull up TWEN (the website where we turn in our written assignments)......AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! I seriously bursted out in tears. At this point, I snatched my flash drive out of my laptop and literally ran to the computers in the library and got my brief submitted at 10:59.....yes, 1 minute before the deadline. Not that big of a deal in most situations, right? Just ask for an extension and handle it.....NOT IN LAW SCHOOL!! We have been reminded for months and even throughout last semester that late assignments do not get accepted, and a late assignent would result in a failing grade...which means you fail the class. We work on the brief for several months, so in theory, it should have been done a week ago, not scrambled together one minute before the deadline. Needless to say, had that 1 minute not been there, I would be laying on the floor still balling my eyes out and begging for mercy from my professor.
Now that I've gotten home, settled down somewhat (not really...my heart rate is still sky high), I am attempting to see the big picture. My brief is turned in. While I'm certain it has quite a few formatting mistakes and incorrect page numbers due to my scramble, it's still turned in. With it turned in, there is surely very little chance that I will actually fail the class....hopefully.
Oh well, now it's time to pick up the pieces and focus on oral arguments, which only count for 10% of my grade, but at this point, every little bit counts....and now that it's almost 12:30 at night, I think I'll try to get some sleep.

April
Well, another month has gone, and a new month is already here....March definitely flew by, and April definitely snuck up on me! Several big events are occuring in my life this month....
First of all, my very first appellate brief is due this month. In fact, it's due Sunday (and I really should be working on it now, but everybody needs a break, right?). Technically, it's not a real brief, but I like to think it is since I've spent way too much time and effort on it for it not to be real. Along with this "real" brief comes oral arguments. This is basically where I take what I have said in my brief and talk about it with the judge/judges....and yes, it's part of my grade. My practice round is this Friday, and I'm soooooooo incredibly nervous about it!!! The judges can pretty much ask me anything they want to, and I'm instantly put on the spot and have to answer a question that I may have never even thought of...fun, huh? Once that's over, I'm pretty sure at least 100 pounds will be lifted off my shoulders :)
The 1L moot court tournament is this month too. There's no guarantee that I'll even get into the tournament, but it sure would be nice to qualify. Word is that about 4 students from each class get in, so the odds aren't in my favor, but hopefully I'll do well enough to get in. Honestly, I could care less if I won the tournament or even made it past the first round. I would just like to be asked to compete....you know, since it makes a student feel like they haven't completely wasted a month of their time, lol.
State Fine Arts is this month. Obviously, I've been a little preoccupied and haven't been able to practice with the kids as much as I normally would, but they are still doing an awesome job. Depending on how well they do at state, we could be starting fundraising for a big trip to Phoenix, Arizona this August....fun!!
Amongst all the other madness coming up this month, next Monday, I have an interview with an attorney about a potential job opportunity. Most first year students spend their summer working as an intern/clerk and do not get paid for their hard work. This opportunity for me would be an actual job and would be paid!! If it all works out, I may even be able to stay on with him after school starts back and still have a job....which would be so awesome! I can't even explain how great it would feel to not have to worry with finding a job every summer during school...so, cross your fingers on that one :)
I guess that's pretty much all of the big things that are going on in April....hopefully my next post will be filled with exciting stuff like "Oral arguments went great!!" "My brief totally rocked!!!" and "I got the job!!"....but you'll just have to wait and see :)

Spring Break!!
Spring Break....I remember the days when those two words actually meant something fun....a beach trip, sleeping late, staying up all night, no homework, no responsibilities....you know, the good ole days?!?! Unfortunately, in law school, they give you a Spring Break and trick you into thinking that it is going to be a fun time, like it used to be....they lied!! I will admit that I have slept much later than I normally do for the past two days, but the rest of the week will be filled with outlines, brief editing, studying, outlines, brief editing, studying, outlines, brief editing...you get the picture :) The dreaded appellate brief is due in about 2 weeks, and I'm at the point where I just don't want to look at it anymore. I want it to be finished and turned in, but I know it's not up to par....ugh! As for my outlines, let's just say I feel like a total slacker in the fact that I'm definitely thinking about supplementing my outlines with those online outlines you can buy from the former smart law students for $10. I know, I know....how lazy could I be?!?!?! Somehow, I'm thinking that $10 will be well spent, lol.
I'm pretty sure I say this every time I post about school, but it really is flying by sooooo fast...a little faster than I was prepared for! I mean, in my mind, it shouldn't even be Valentine's Day yet, much less Spring Break. However, I will admit that I'm glad the time is flying by. If it went by any slower, I'm not sure I would be "enjoying" my law school journey, haha! Anyway, now that I've managed to stay up until 1:00 a.m. (thanks to myself for sleeping in way too late), I think I'll try going to bed again :)

March
Since I did a post on what my life consisted of in February, I figured I would do the same this month........
Obviously, I have school :( I turned in the second draft of my brief last week, and I have a grading conference next week, which is guaranteed to be terrible. Nothing good can come out of my professor taking my beautiful paper and covering it in ugly red ink...it's torture!!
I'm running/walking my first 5k this month. My school is doing a 5k to raise money for the clinics we have that offer free legal services to local people in need. I'll probably be doing alot more walking than running, but hey, it's better than sitting on the couch all morning.....even though I would much rather be sitting on the couch :)
This past weekend was the Barrister's Ball at school. It's pretty much this really fancy dinner where we all get dressed up and spend more than 5 minutes getting ready...unlike for class, haha! Erin Brockovich was the speaker....not Julia Roberts...the actual Erin Brockovich, lol. She was interesting to say the least....she spoke for an entire hour. Even after being in law school for almost two semesters, my attention span still isn't quite that long. However, she is very passionate about what she does, and I can appreciate that.
Somehow, everything doesn't revolve around school....one of my best friends is having a baby, and last week, she found out that it's a GIRL!!!! I am unbelievably excited about little Emmalynn and can't wait to meet her!! Of course, baby shower plans are already up and going. Emmalynn must already love me because she decided to make her due date before school starts back this summer, so I'll get to spend some time with her and she can decide early that I'm her favorite aunt :) I got her the cutest present last week, and I almost posted a picture of it, but I'm giving it to her mommy tomorrow, and I don't want her to see it on here!!
Well, I guess that's just about all that's going on for the next little while. Happy Wednesday :)
