Getting Paid to Be Crafty!!

Since I've been on this crafty binge lately, several of my family members have gotten me to make them different things for their houses or as little gifts for friends of theirs....but I've never actually had someone outside of my family actually want to "buy" something from me. About two weeks ago, I took my aunt two of these signs that she wanted for wedding gifts....

Little did I know, the next week, she would be advertising for me, lol. A friend of hers saw the signs I made and some pictures of some other things I had done and actually ordered 3 signs from me! I'm so excited :) Once I get the new signs made, I'll be sure and post pictures!

New Job

It's no secret that once I start law school, the likelihood of being able to keep an 8-5 job is not very good....really, it's non-existent. Since I'll be in school pretty much every day from 8:00 until probably 3:00 or later, keeping the job I have now just isn't going to happen. While I would absolutely LOVE to stay here, I knew I would have to look for something part time just to keep some extra money coming in that I could work while in school. Everybody who knows me knows that I am obsessed with being crafty...so what better place for me to get a part time job than a craft store?? I filled out an application at Michael's probably six months ago. They never called me, so I just assumed they either weren't hiring me or weren't impressed with my resume, lol. However, the week before last, out of the blue, the manager from Michael's called me and asked me to come in for an interview and they offered me a part time job! I had my first day on Sunday, and it was a little awkward not having my own desk, computer, and all the other luxuries that come along with working in an office environment, but I guess beggars can't be choosers :) Hopefully, it will be something I enjoy and can maintain through school....since extra money never hurt anyone, lol. OH, and it goes without saying that I'm super excited about getting an employee discount....YAY!!

Happy (Early) 4th!!

In keeping with my obsession with always having a cute front door, we're ready for July 4th! Nicole cut this one out for me, but I took forever to get it painted...it's finally done though, and it's going on the front door this afternoon :) OH! And I have great news to share with the blog world! Thanks to the best father-in-law in the world, I now have my very own jig saw!!! For those of you who are wondering why in the heck I would be excited about a jig saw, it's the tool used to cut out all of these super cute front door signs you've been seeing! I know...I'm weird for being excited about a power tool, lol...but I don't care! I have the cutest front door on the block, haha! My next one will be a super cute lemon, so be on the lookout!

Mallory and Foster

My very best friend in the whole world got married on Saturday, and I was so honored to be able to stand by her side. Mallory and I have been friends since Kindergarten, and I am so blessed to have a friend like her in my life. She was such a beautiful bride, and I know she and Foster will have an amazing life together. Here are a few pictures from Mallory's big day :)

My Attempt at Getting a "Green Thumb"....

This past weekend, I traveled to the big city of Luverne for my best friend's bridesmaid's luncheon. On the way there, I passed my grandmother's house. She passed away last October, and yes, it's still strange driving by her house and knowing that she's not there. However, this time I noticed the beautiful hydrangea bush that was fully bloomed in her front yard. I have no idea why I never noticed this bush before. So, after having a great time at the bridesmaid's luncheon, I left the big city to head back home. On my way out of town, I decided to stop and see if I could take a sample of the hydrangea bush home. There were TONS of blooms and stems to pick from. I tried my best to pull one with some root left on it, and I got a little, but not much. When I got home, I ran to get some fertilizer and I planted the stems in my front yard. So far, it's not looking too good, lol. I'm hoping the stems just had a rough time on the drive home and they will spruce back up....if not, I'm going to have to dig the things out of the ground! Everybody cross your fingers that my first attempt at having a green thumb has not turned into an epic fail :)

The Sunday before last....like 10 days ago (I'm way behind on my updates, lol), I hosted a shower at church for a very sweet new friend of mine who happens to be marrying my husband's new right hand. I had such a ball getting everything together for Sara's shower and can't wait for her to be here permanently....only a few more weeks! YAY!! Here are a few pictures from the shower.

Some Much Needed Girl Time

Last Saturday, after Mallory's shower...but before the wedding (I know, busy day), some friends and myself went to this super cute painting place in Millbrook called Brush Buddies. Ms. Debbie was so nice and let those of us who aren't speedy painters take all the time we needed to get our masterpiece just right, lol.
