I knew this would come

Well, my first semester in law school is reaching its half way point, which means.....midterms. I actually only have one midterm that counts toward my final grade. The others essentially serve as a practice test for me and a little glimpse for the professors to see how we're doing. Either way, I'm nearly sick about it. I just found out that we need to know case names for two classes that I was under the impression that case names were not necessary for our exams....if you've been to law school, you'll understand how much more stress that adds when you factor in the tidbit that we've covered well over 100 cases thus far. Memorizing case names doesn't exactly fit into my schedule for the next week!!! Everything is starting to become extremely overhwhelming, and I definitely understand what attorneys meant when they told me I would swear there were no longer 24 hours in a day once you start law school. There just isn't enough time to finish anything!! One minute I feel like I'm doing pretty well and might actually make it though this semester, but then there are other moments when I feel like I won't even make it through that day, much less the rest of the semester! Today has been one of the days where I don't even feel like I'll make it through the day :( It seems like I'm working so hard to accomplish absolutely nothing and still have the potential of getting a big fat "F" when December rolls around.

Oh well, I guess I'll just have to cross that bridge when I get to it....and I can assure you, that bridge will be arriving wwwwaaaaayyyy before I'm ready for it to be here. Either way....vent session over :)

I'm still alive....

I had a feeling my blogging would suffer quite a bit once school started, and unfortunately, I was right. It's been almost a month since I blogged. As for school, things are good.....extremely stressful, but good. I haven't dropped out yet, which is definitely a positive, and I've managed to be put in the "hot seat" in two of my classes without having a mental breakdown :) The best part about law school so far is all of the new friends I have made. I really have been so blessed! I've got a group of great friends who are all just as dedicated to this crazy journey as myself, and I can't wait to see where we all end up in 3 years!

Somehow, I've been able to find a little time to keep up with my crafty hobbies...but nowhere near as much time as I would like. I'll post pictures as soon as I get a chance of the cute stuff I've made lately. Hope everyone is doing great and looking forward to some cool weather!

Oh how I love those Alpha Gams.....

This past weekend was recruitment at AUM, and I had been so excited about getting to help with everything this year! I actually filled in for our panhellenic advisor this year, so I got to see several parts of recruitment that I had never seen before, and I really enjoyed it. As for the results of the weekend, let's just say Alpha Gam showed out!! We ended up getting 14 absolutely precious new members....which is a huge number for AUM being such a small school! The chapter is absolutely thrilled with the new girls. I can't wait to see what amazing things come out of this new pledge class. Here are a few pictures from our super successful weekend!!

The girls who made it back to visit from my pledge class....

My family, minus Holly :(

The FABULOUS new chapter of Alpha Gamma Delta!!

And the 2010 pledge class :)

I'm working with some of the girls now on getting new member gifts together, which of course, means craft time!!! I'll be sure to post pictures of all of the great stuff we're planning on making!

Let's Get Away From School For a Second

I felt the need to blog about something other than school since it seems like every post I've made lately has been about school, school, and more school. Please disregard the fact that I am creating this post sitting in the library of....you guessed it....school!! So, I decided to update the blog world on the few crafty projects I've been able to work on lately :)

Here is my newest front door hanger....it's supposed to look like a lemon, but Tony says it looks like a pie, lol. Either way, it's bright and summery, so it's going up!

These three projects are the ones I posted about a few weeks ago that my aunt's friend ordered for her grandchildren.....and I'm currently working on another one for her. This lady is obviously becoming a great customer :)

Last, but certainly not least....this PRECIOUS acorn was really more of a Nicole project, but I helped....a little, haha. We made these to use as decorations in our sorority's room for recruitment, which is coming up this weekend, and I'm soooo excited about it! It's great to have something to look forward to that has nothing to do with law school!!

I hope everyone is having a great summer!!

I haven't quit yet.....

This week was the start of law school....which is part of the reason I haven't blogged in a while. Needless to say, they have us busy from the time we walk in the building to the time we leave for the day (with the exception of a lunch break provided by all of the sweet bar prep people who want our money!!) and I'm extremely overwhelmed with the whole process. Honestly, I think just knowing that I have to be in the top 25% of my class in order to keep my scholarship is what freaks me out the most! Next week, classes officially start, and I'm starting to freak out simply because this week alone has been overwhelming, and it's only orientation!! Hopefully, I'll be able to get myself in a routine and breeze through my first semester with no worries....but I don't live in a land called perfect :) Oh well! My first week of law school is almost over and I've had no tears, no sick stomach feelings, and no massive embarassing moments in front of the whole class, although I'm sure all of that will come in the future, lol. It may be Christmas before I get to blog again, but at least all of my blog buddies will know where I am :)

Let the tears begin....

Friday is my last day at work, which means I only have 2 days left here. However, I shouldn't already be crying about leaving this place!! I got a box and started packing up my personal stuff from my desk today and as soon as someone did the whole "Why are you packing? You act like you're leaving us to go to law school or something", I just broke down! I am officially an emotional basket case, lol. I know everything is going to work out just fine, but I feel like I'm leaving the people who taught me everything I know about my chosen career field, and it makes me sad. Hopefully Friday will include some laughter along with the tears I'm sure I'll be shedding all day :) Either way, I can definitely say I have been blessed with one of the best jobs anyone could ever ask for.

Sad Day

Today is the start of my last week at my job....and I'm having mixed feelings about it. While I am so excited to start school and get moving with the next chapter of my life, I feel like I am closing a huge door of my life that I wish could stay open. I almost feel like I turned into an adult at this job. I have made some of the best friends and learned so much here. While this place has its ups and downs, just like any other job, I would definitely say it's been the best job I've ever had, and I consider myself extremely lucky to have been fortunate enough to be employed at Beers Anderson. Hopefully, everyone is right when they say working here will help me in law school and I won't be lost in space like many of the other students....I'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one. Oh well, enough with the sad stuff....I guess I just need to focus on the big picture and be happy about that....but I won't promise that a few tears won't be shed this week :(
